Goods exported to Europe, Asia via Razi customs

Urmiyeh, W Azarbaijan Prov, Nov 8, IRNA – Some 45 thousand tons of different commodities have been exported from Razi customs by railroad and land transportation to European and Asian countries during the past seven months. Hossein Sivani, governor of Khoy, told reporters on Saturday that the goods were exported to Italy, Germany, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan from Razi customs in the provincial city of Khoy. He said the amount of exports shows an increase of 40% as compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, he added, the value of the exports also shows an increase of over 18% during the past year putting the amount at $5 million. Different minerals, fruit concentrates, tomato paste, roofing and industrial salt were among major goods which were exported from Khoy customs during the said period. Also, about one million tons of goods worth $200 million has been transited through railroad during the same period which shows and increase of 100%, the official said. During the past seven months, 238 thousand passengers transited the border which shows an increase of 86% in comparison with the same period last year. Razi border is the third official Iranian border with Turkey. It is also the only railroad border of Iran with Turkey and European countries. Khoy is located 130 km north of West Azarbaijan Province with a population of over 350 thousand./end
