Government eyes to boost Thailand's tourism-related revenues

BANGKOK, March 23 (TNA) - The Thai government is considering measures to further boost the country's tourism-related revenues. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said that her government has launched the “Miracle Thailand Year” campaign in 2011 and 2012 to attract more international visitors to achieve the goal. In addition, Yingluck acknowledged, her government will further improve tourist services and destinations in the country and provide global tourists with insurance in both normal situation and crises. According to the premier, her Puea Thai Party-led coalition government will also promote eco-tourism, culture and health-oriented tourism and value-added quality spa services. With the campaigns, Yingluck said, her administration expects to double Thailand's tourism-related revenues over the next five years. Meanwhile, the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has introduced two books, aimed mainly at boosting the country's tourism attractiveness among local travellers. The first book, titled "Green Recreation", features 30 selected tourist attractions across the Thai Kingdom. The second book, titled "Love and Confidence in Thailand", promotes restored tourist sites in Thai provinces affected by the country's flooding crisis late last year. (TNA)
