Government To Propose Revision Of Budget 2013 State Budget

Jakarta, May 13 (Antara) - Speaker of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie said the government will propose a draft revision of the 2013 state budget on Tuesday. The government hopes that the House would immediately study the proposed revision of the state budget, Marzuki said after a consultative meeting between the house leaders and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Monday. He said debate on the draft budget could be wrapped up in three weeks that early June it could be validated. Chief economics minister Hatta Rajasa said the prevailing economic condition needs immediate response. Swelling subsidy on oil fuel put pressure on the state budget affecting its balance, Hatta said, adding, therefore, quick action is needed to wrap up debate on the proposed revision . He said the government proposes cuts in economic targets such as economic growth target reduced from 6.8 percent to 6.2-6.4 percent, oil lifting to below 900,000 liters per day and oil price at US$105-US$110 per barrel. "As for rupiah exchange rate, let us see later," he said. He said the government also proposes changes in oil fuel subsidy policy raising the prices of subsidized oil fuels. Earlier it was suggested that the price of subsidized gasoline would be raised to Rp6,500 per liter from Rp4,500 at present. With an increase in the fuel prices, compensation is proposed for the country`s poor, Hatta said. Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Affairs Agung Laksono said compensation for the low income people constitutes a policy package proposed in the revised 2013 state budget.
