Governor: Border trade plays major role in Iran-Turkey commerce

Orumiyeh, Jan 21, IRNA – Governor of Iran's Khoy border city said on Wednesday that border transactions play an important role in improving Iran-Turkey commerce, stressing that further concentration on the issue is necessary. Hossein Sivani made the comment in a meeting with the Governor-General of Turkey's Van province Aidin Nazih Dougan, reminding him that the two countries' officials have decided to raise the Iran-Turkey annual trade volume to 30 billion dollars. 'Such an expansion will be materialized through expansion of border trade and one of the borders for this purpose is the Razi Border Terminal. He said that measures have been adopted to facilitate the customs procedure, the tourist traffic, and roads' quality on both ends. The Governor General of Turkey's Van province, too, said in the meeting that Iran-Turkey relations date back to far ages in history. 'Boosting the two countries' trade relations is in need of full facilitation of the border terminals and the roads leading to them,' he said, confirming that moves in that direction have been made on both sides. 'There is a strong political will for further improvement of the Iran-Turkey comprehensive relation and I hope the goals set for the year 2015 will be fully met to save both nations' interests,' he said. Razi International border is Iran's 3rd border terminal with Turkey, located in fr west of Iran's West Azarbaijan province, 65 kilometers to the West side of Khoy City.
