Govt To Revitalize 175 Traditional Markets This Year

Jakarta, Jan 7 (ANTARA) - The government through the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Ministry6 will revitalize 175 traditional markets all over the country this year. Revitalization of the traditional markets is expected to improve the competitiveness of small businesses, Neddy Rafinaldi Halim, a deputy for marketing and cooperatives and small enterprises networks at the ministry said here on Monday. Neddy said competitiveness would improve with the availability of facility for marketing and greater convenience that would attract consumers. He said until 2012, his office had revitalized 265 traditional markets in 207 cities in 32 provinces. The revitalization facilitated more than 23,000 small traders and expanded their business, he said. Small traders have more room for expansion and for routine transactions, he added. "With the revitalization supporting facilities are available such as distribution system for products of small businesses in the regions," he said.
