GPIC completes UPM

Manama, Apr. 20 (BNA): Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC)'s President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery has said all procedures to carry out the Universal Periodic Maintenance (UPM) at the factory have been completed. He said this was done successfully while maintaining the continuity of operations with high efficiency and maintaining regular productivity. Dr. Jawahery thanked everyone involved in the operations as well as those responsible for ensuring it was a success, whether government or private organisations, and said they had made significant contributions in facilitating the movement of equipment to be used in the operation in a very competent and professional manner. He praised the high level of cooperation between various parties involved and stressed that such coordination and cooperation from the government and private sector was a national effort that would most certainly influence the national economy of Bahrain and benefit the country. He said among the equipment that was brought to the site included some manufactured in Bahrain workshops while some also came from as far away as Italy, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore and Austria. Some other equipment came into Bahrain from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He said this had all been made possible with the active support of the company’s Board of Directors, under the chairmanship of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, which worked very hard in coordination and preparation with various government and private agencies to facilitate the equipment reaching the plant on time. He singled out the Ministry of Interior’s Customs Affairs Directorate, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning as well as the management of the Khalifa bin Salman Port in ensuring the task at hand was successfully accomplished. It is worth mentioning that the GPIC implements a comprehensive maintenance process for the plants on a regular basis every two and a half years, during which factories and equipment undergo extensive overhaul in collaboration with international and national manufacturers and specialists, as well as consulting firms.
