GPIC hosts "ergonomic stress" lecture

Manama, May 26 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) organised a lecture on addressing pressure at the workplace as part of its efforts to motivate its employee’s and to create awareness of the negative effects of stress on one’s health. Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI) Family Medicine Department lecturer Dr. Ghufran Ahmed Jassim spoke at the event organised by the Company’s Health Committee. During the lecture, Dr. Ghufran spoke about the effects of stress on the psychological and physical health of employees and ways to prevent such pressure before it occurs. Dr. Ghufran also answered questions from those attending after the event and stressed on them implementing in their daily lives what they had learnt. The participants thanked the Company Management, in particular the Health Committee, for its keenness to organise such lectures, which serve to educate them on many important aspects of physical and mental health and everyday living. Speaking later, Dr. Ghufran thanked GPIC officials for giving her an opportunity to present her views to employees and said she had been very impressed at the arrangements that had been made for the very fruitful interaction. She also appreciated the positive involvement from the audience and said it revealed the high level of awareness among them and the desire to learn about physical and mental health issues. Dr. Ghufran also thanked GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and the Health Committee head, Dr. Mohammed Jibril, for having taken personal interest in organising the lecture. She said she hoped such lectures would continue to be held in the future. In a statement, Dr. Jawahery said he was very happy at the successful organisation of the event and said he hoped the employees would implement what they had learnt in their daily life at work and at home. He said GPIC is keen to organise such lectures, which help employees achieve success and excellence.
