Hangzhou, Dbkk Ink MoU To Further Encourage Collaboration

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) Friday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hangzhou City of Zheijang, China to further encourage collaboration in economic fields between the two cities. The MoU was signed by Kota Kinabalu Mayor Yeo Boon Hai and Chairman of the People's Congress Standing Committee of Hangzhou City, Wang Jincai. Dr Oh Ei Sun, President of Sabah Ma-Zhong Friendship Association, which facilitated the collaboration, said the cooperation was expected in areas such as tourism, investment, culture and education. "The signing of this MoU is timely as China is now going all out to invest overseas. "In addition, there are already direct flights between Hangzhou and Kota Kinabalu that will help their people and our people (in Sabah) to have the feeling of being international," he said at the MoU signing ceremony here. Meanwhile, Yeo said Kota Kinabalu offered many opportunities such as road construction, tourism and port facilities improvement for the Chinese investors to venture into in a bid to strengthen the friendship between the two cities. "We look forward to working closely with Hangzhou," he added. Wang said he was impressed with the Kota Kinabalu landscape, as well as the hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He also expressed hope that Hangzhou could learn a thing or two about city management from DBKK. -- BERNAMA
