HE Al Sada formally Inaugurates the QP Environment Fair 2014

Doha, April 23 (QNA) - His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP Qatar Petroleum on Wednesday opened the eighth edition of the QP Environment Fair at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). During the four-day event , held under the theme "Use of Water in the Oil and Gas Industry",eight QP directorates and departments as well as 31 companies and organizations are showcasing their environmental initiatives at the event, under the theme "Use of Water in the Oil and Gas Industry". After the opening ceremony, HE the Minister, accompanied by senior officials from Qatar Petroleum and other organizations, toured the fair and was received by senior officials from the participating directorates and organizations. Talking to media representatives at the event, HE Dr. Al-Sada praised the achievements of the fair since it was launched in 2004, and pointed to the highlights in this years edition. "The theme of this event reflects the importance of water in the Oil and Gas Industry and also the efforts of the sectors companies to protect all components of the environment, including air, earth, water and its biological diversity," said HE Dr. Al-Sada. HE the minister meantime stressed that "the event embodies various efforts to achieve the environmental pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, as launched and guided by His Highness Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar The participating QP directorates and departments are the Public Relations & Communications, HSE Regulations & Enforcement (DG), Corporate Health, Safety and Environment (SQ), Dukhan Operations, Gas Operations, Mesaieed Industrial City, Ras Laffan Industrial City, Offshore Operations (Halul), and QP Refinery. A large number of QP subsidiaries and joint ventures are also taking part in the event. These include Dolphin Energy Limited, Oryx GTL, Qatalum, Qatar Chemical Company Limited (Q-Chem), Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO(, Qatar Fuel (WOQOD), Qatar Fuel Additives Company Ltd. (QAFAC), Qatar Petrochemical Company Ltd. (QAPCO), Qatargas Operating Company(Qatar Gas), RasGas Company Limited, Seef Limited, Qatar Steel, and Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC). In addition, the QP Environment Fair 2014 also features the exhibition stands of many industry stakeholders, such as ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil Qatar Inc., Maersk Oil Qatar AS, Occidental Petroleum (OXY), Qatar Petroleum Development Company Ltd. (QPD), Qatar Shell, and TOTAL E&P Qatar. Other exhibitors include government entities such as the Ministry of Environment and Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), members of the Qatar Foundation, namely the Qatar Energy and Environment Research Institute (QEERI), the Environmental Studies Centre of Qatar University, the Friends of the Environment Center (FEC), and Children's Literature Center. More than one thousand students from 31 local schools in Qatar will also take part through various competitions and educational and cultural presentations which promote environmental awareness among children and through school visits to the fair. The exhibition timings are 10:30 am - 7:00 pm on Wednesday 23 April, 7:30 am - 1 pm and 4 pm - 8 pm on Thursday and Saturday, and 2 pm - 7 pm on Friday 26 April, admission to the QPEF is free to the public. First launched in 2004, the QP Environment Fair 2014 is organized by QPs Public Relations and Communications Department. (END)
