Highest Aluminum Production Rate Registered Last Year

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – The Research Center of the Majlis (Parliament) announced that in the calendar year 1392 (2013-2014) 320 thousand tons of aluminum bullion was produced in the country showing an increase of 15.5% compared to the previous year and registering the highest production rate in the past nine years. During the five years of the Fourth Development Plan (2005-2009) the total aluminum bullion production in the country amounted to 1,155,700 tons whereas in the past three years of the Fifth Development Plan some 80% of the total production rate of the Fourth Plan was realized. In the years 2011-2013, the Fifth Development Plan, a total of 915.8 thousand tons of aluminum bullion were produced in the country. Current aluminum production capacity has been announced at over 475 thousand tons while the Persian Gulf littoral states with a production 10 times more than Iran’s are among the top producers in the Middle East region. According to statistics in the year 2013 aluminum production in the world amounted to about 47.3 million tons of which 55% or over 26 million tons was allocated to Asia, 9.4 million tons or 20% was the share of Europe; and America had a share of 7.5 million tons or 16% of the total world production./end
