Hope for Thai bourse to enter digital system

BANGKOK, Oct 22 (TNA) -- Sathit Limpongpan, an outgoing chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), hopes that his successor would continue developing buying and selling at the SET to embark on a full digital system. Mr Sathit who completes his term this October 31 said trading development at the SET on digital system is now 80 per cent complete and he hopes that the SET would become the first fully complete digital system of the government agency. Mr Sathit said he hoped to see the Thai bourse to meet international standards in the near future. On Thailand’s economy, Mr Sathit said he is optimistic that the country’s economic situation in 2016 would be better than this year due chiefly to the government-sponsored basic infrastructure projects which would get off the ground and help stimulate the private sector to invest in the country. Mr Sathit said the government’s economic stimulus programmes could be divided into two parts. The first part is for moving the country’s gross domestic product and the second is to lay solid foundation for the country’s economy to grow on a sustainable basis. These measures would be positive for the country’s economy in 2016, he added. (TNA)
