"Horas Fiesta" Aims To Promote Samosir's Tourism Potential

Pangururan, North Sumatra, Aug 22 (Antara) - The "Horas Fiesta 2014" is an annual event of the Samosir district office of culture and tourism in North Sumatra to promote the local tourism potential, an official stated. Melani Butarbutar, Samosir district head`s expert staff, noted here on Friday that Horas Fiesta aimed to promote the beauty of Lake Toba and the regional tourism potential to the world. "The Horas Fiesta is intended to support Samosir district administration`s vision of making the district an innovative, environmentally-based tourism destination in an effort to make `Visit Samosir 2015` a success," Melani remarked. She noted that in the future, Samosir Island, situated in the middle of Lake Toba, will be developed as the center of Batak culture and art development and revitalization. In a bid to promote Samosir`s tourism potential, the local administration on August 23, 2014, will present a musical orchestra by Herman deLago from Austria, who which chant Batak songs. "At the side of Lake Toba on Saturday, we will listen to the strains of symphony orchestra from the world-class musician who will collaborate with Batak`s young professional musician Vicky Sianipar," Melani noted. Chief of Samosir Culture and Tourism office Ombang Siboro expressed hope that through the Horas Fiesta, the younger generations in Samosir district will develop a better understanding of their local customs and culture. "Samosir`s tourism potential is also promoted by guiding the younger generations to develop an insight about the local arts, culture, and traditions," Siboro remarked. He stated that Horas Samosir Fiesta was started in July 2014 and will last until December 31.
