HRH Princess Sabeeka to patronise banking conference

Manama, Oct. 12 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) will patronise "Women in the Financial and Banking Sector" conference, to be held on November 30. Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and SCW announced that Dr. Mahnaz Safa will address the upcoming 'Women in the Financial and Banking Sector Conference.' Dr. Safa is a senior London-based banker with more than two decades of top tier global banking experience and one of the most prominent figures in the financial sector. She is currently a Managing Director at Citigroup where she advises the bank’s investment banking clients on corporate finance and risk management. She is also the co-chair of Citi’s EMEA Banking Executive Committee for Women’s Leadership. Dr. Safa will take part in the conference’s keynote plenary session 'Leading the Change: Factors Shaping the Future of Women in Finance,' where she will draw on her vast industry experience. The conference marks the conclusion of a year-long campaign, being held as part of the 2015 Bahraini Women’s Day celebrations, in order to enhance women's role in the financial and banking sector. Over the past eight months, the CBB and SCW have already hosted a series of events including roundtables and forums to highlight issues of importance relating to women’s advancement in the sector. CBB Executive Director for Administrative Services Dr. Huda Hussain Al-Maskati expressed delight for announcing the participation of top global industry leaders in this conference, adding that this gathering will be a key platform for dialogue and discussion on women's development in this sector. Dr. Safa expressed her pleasure for speaking at the conference and expressed appreciation to CBB and SCW for organising such a major event. The conference is expected to bring together more than 250 senior officials and heads of major financial institutions in Bahrain, as well as women at senior positions in the sector.
