Hua Hin Airport to be developed

HUA HIN, May 7 (TNA) -- Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittyapaisith has ordered the Airport Department to further develop and enlarge the runway of Hua Hin Airport in a bid to promote tourism at Thailand’s popular resort and nearby provinces. After inspecting Hua Hin Airport on Friday, the minister found that only one commercial airline is now providing services there while its runway could accommodate Being 737 as it has a total length of 2.1 kilometres and 35 metres in width. Mr Arkhom thought that larger planes could easily land at the airport if the airport is further developed. He has ordered the Airport Department to consider widen the runway to 45 metres. Also, Mr Arkhom has ordered that a road leading to the Myanmar border be developed along with a building of a bicycle lane to promote tourism in the area. (TNA)
