Huge Business Potential Awaits Perdasama In Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The Malay Traders and Industrialists Association of Malaysia's (Perdasama) Putrajaya branch has been urged to seize the huge business potential here, which will expand along its population growth. In making the call, Protem President Tengku Hishammuddin Zaizi Tengku Azman Shah Al-Haj said the number of Putrajaya residents was expected to grow drastically once the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Project is completed in 2017. "In 2010, there were 72,413 people living in Putrajaya and the number is expected to increase significantly next year. "This represents a huge potential for business and also for the association to increase its membership," he said at Perdasama Putrajaya's first annual general meeting here Friday. Tengku Hishammuddin Zaizi listed food-based downstream industry and hospitality as among the business ventures that could be explored. There was also opportunity in the civil, electrical and mechanical maintenance work and event management as hundreds of large-scale activities were organised in Malaysia's federal administrative capital annually, he said. "More efforts are needed to increase Malay traders in order to achieve the government's target of 30 per cent Bumiputera (son of the soil) equity, set under the New Economic Policy and National Development Policy," Tengku Hishammuddin Zaizi added. -- BERNAMA
