Hybrid Vehicles On Agenda Of Car Manufacturers

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – An official at the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade underlined the importance of supply of hybrid and electric vehicles and said manufacture of these vehicles has been put on the agenda of car producers. Amir Hossein Qanaati said these vehicles play an important role in reducing pollutants and consuming public transportation fuel. Stressing financial support for hybrid and electric vehicles Qanaati said manufacture and supply of these vehicles requires financial support and necessary infrastructure, adding that the issue is under study at the ministry. According to him, upon the proposal of the Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry trade benefit for import of the above-mentioned vehicles will be zero for the current calendar year. Referring to the manufacture of vans, the official said once again manufacture of these vehicles has been put on the agenda and necessary coordination has been made with car manufacturing companies to select the proper brand and activate the production line./end
