ICA Revenues Exceed $1b

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA - Iran Customs Administration’s (ICA) income amounted to $1.81b during March 21-August 22, said ICA’s director general on Tuesday. Masoud Karbasian added that the figure was $656m year-on-year. “Almost 95 percent of the customs’ operations are conducted through a comprehensive online system,” he said, noting that the measure has increased ICA’s income. “By using the system, we have reduced the duration of customs formalities from 26 to 3 days, and decreased daily tariff for goods delay at the customs’ offices,” he said. Karbasian said in this period, the country also imported 47,000 automobiles. “Import of cars with engines above 2,500 cc are still prohibited. Those imported in the past two years were ordered before April 21, 2013. There are no more cars with engines above 2,500 cc in customs offices,” he said. Karbasian said up to 85 percent of the goods imported during March 21-August 22, 2014, pertained to raw materials and intermediate goods, and the rest to consumer goods./end
