IGEM 2014 Expected To Generate US$378.39 Million In Business Leads

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- The International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2014 to held in October is expected to generate US$378.39 million (RM1.2 billion) worth of business leads. Themed, "Generating Green Wealth", the business leads could later be translated into business transactions. "They can result in product orders, business joint ventures or investment in manufacturing of green technology," said Malaysian Green Technology Corporation Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Hadri Haris. He said IGEM 2014 would be an exciting event with the inclusion of various parallel green related events. Ahmad Hadri said Formula E, which is the Formula 1 race version of electric cars, would be held in Malaysia on October 18 to coincide with the IGEM week. "This is the first year of Formula E, and Malaysia will be the second host after Beijing," he said after at a briefing on IGEM 2014 on Monday. The main focus of IGEM, to be held on Oct 16-19, would still be the exhibition, with the target of 60,000 visitors and 600 booths from 22 countries, he said. Besides, in parallel session, there will be conferences, featuring prominent speakers on green technology from overseas. Among the topic to be discussed are green innovations, financing, electric mobility, information and communication technology, renewable energy as well as waste and water management, said Ahamd Hadri. On the progress of the exhibition, 271 booths have been confirmed, 190 booths have been reserved while Greentech was still working to get another 155 exhibitors in, he added. IGEM 2014 is co-organised by Malaysian Green Technology Corp and Expomal International Sdn Bhd. --BERNAMA
