IM 2016 Taiwan Draws Over 45 Institutional Fund Managers

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Invest Malaysia 2016 Taiwan (IM 2016 Taiwan) has attracted more than 45 Taipei-based institutional fund managers from 26 organisations, who met one-on-one with leading companies listed on Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia's Stock Exchange). Themed 'Malaysia: Sustainable at the Core', the inaugural capital market roadshow jointly organised by Bursa Malaysia Bhd and RHB Investment Bank, engaged Taiwanese fund managers who represented total assets under management of over US$480 billion with emerging markets and ASEAN mandates. Bursa Malaysia Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tajuddin Atan said there was high interest from Taiwanese fund managers to further understand the growth of the ASEAN marketplace and the access Bursa Malaysia listed companies could provide to the region. "Malaysia offers Taiwanese investors the growth opportunities of an emerging market with the confidence of a developed market infrastructure and regulatory practices," said Tajuddin in a statement. "Thirty-eight of the listed companies on Bursa Malaysia or 45 per cent of our market capitalisation are FTSE4Good Index constituents and 73 per cent of the listed companies on Bursa Malaysia are Shariah compliant," he added. Meanwhile, RHB Investment CEO Robert Huray said the bank was well-positioned to take advantage of the growth of ASEAN, providing investors with access to the region's emerging companies, as well as, a platform for local and regional issuers to raise funding from leading investors in the region. "We have strong fundamentals to ensure growth and sustainability in line with our reframed strategy to become the leading multinational financial services group," Huray added. -- BERNAMA
