Increased safety is goal of GCAA plan for 2017-2021

DUBAI, 31st October, 2016 (WAM) -- Providing the public with the safest and most secure air travel is the goal of the General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, strategic plan for 2017-2021. The new plan focuses on various areas, including the improvement of local and global civil aviation safety, through participating in initiatives that gather all stakeholders, in addition to enhancing capabilities and supporting the efficiency and security of the global civil aviation system. The 2017-2021 strategic plan will also build upon the previous GCAA strategy, that sought to improve services by involving all stakeholders, and enhancing international links and holding constructive discussions, as well as develop the existing infrastructure. Simultaneously, the authority will continue to highlight the sustainability and corporate performance aspects, by focusing on human resources and providing services, which could be achieved through a process of development, growth and innovation. In this context, the Federal Government’s strategy to realise UAE vision 2021 is the foundation upon which all federal entities are based, including the GCAA, which has developed its strategic and operational plans accordingly. Priorities included in GCAA’s plans are the improvement of safety and security standards through setting effective policies, enhancing coordination and cooperation with federal entities and local governments. The authority’s strategic priorities aim to ensure delivering high-quality, customer-centric, and integrated Government services, while investing in human resource capabilities and developing leaders, pursuing a culture of excellence through strategic thinking, continuous performance improvements to guarantee superior results and efficient resource management. "UAE, a very small state in all respects, today sits among the giants of the global aviation industry, and often at the head of the table. These achievements are not just happy coincidences or windfalls, but the results of carefully crafted and earnestly executed strategies. We fully understand the catalyst effects of aviation on the national economy and have committed ourselves to support the growth of the national and international aviation sectors," said Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy and GCAA Chairman. "In order to ensure a culture of continuous development, we at GCAA have planned extensive stakeholder engagement programs and benchmark exercises with the best in the business. The airspace restructuring programme, to ensure the efficient flow of air traffic in the UAE skies, is well underway, and I feel confident that by working closely with the industry, we will have measurably increased capability and capacity in aviation safety, security, air navigation services and connectivity. We have set ourselves high targets in these areas and will be closely watching the results," Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, asserted. "Cementing relationships with partners on local and international levels are amongst the most important values of which GCCA prides itself, as nurturing dialogue and relations with partners in an effective, transparent manner would improve our performance and result in better service provision to customers," Laila Ali bin Hareb Al Muhairi, GCAA's Assistant Director General for Strategy and International Affairs, added. - Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395301999323.html
