India Discusses Post Bali Progress With WTO Chief

New Delhi, Jan 25, IRNA – India discussed the post Bali Ministerial Conference with WTO Chief. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma Friday met Director General, World Trade Organization (DG WTO) Roberto Azevedo at Davos on the sidelines of World Economic Forum Annual meeting. Congratulating the DG for his leadership and inclusive approach leading to a very successful outcome of the Bali Ministerial Conference. Sharma said “ We worked together, were flexible where required and demonstrated the willingness to work for the greater good of the multilateral trading system,” an official release said here today. Both the leaders took stock of the progress of post-Bali program of WTO negotiations. “We must capitalize on the momentum gained in Bali and push ahead with the work programs that we agreed to establish on the Doha Development Agenda and food security,” said Sharma. Azevedo is coming to India next week to address session on trade, along with Minister Sharma, in the upcoming Partnership summit at Begaluru, capital of South Indian state of Karnataka. He will also have substantive discussion with the Minister and senior officials while in Bengaluru./end
