India, Iran preparing to supply cheese to Russia

CHANDIGARH/India/, April 24. /TASS/. Dairy producers of India and Iran may start supplying hard cheese to Russia, an aide to the Russian agricultural watchdog chief, Alexei Alekseyenko said on Friday. "The Russian market is interested in high-quality dairy products, and in particular, hard cheese," he stressed, adding that the Iranian producers have already shown interest to begin the supplies. Rosselkhoznadzor earlier inspected a range of dairy enterprises in India but none of them have been certified. A source told TASS minor comments were made to Parag Milk Foods and Shreiber Dynamix Diaries. The official did not rule out that during the next round of inspection he will "check a number of dairy producers" including those that will rectify the deficiencies found during the first inspection. The head of India’s Parag Milk Foods, which produces cheese under the Go brand, Devendra Shah said he planned to increase production by 2.5 times to start deliveries of cheese to Russia. The businessman said Russia consumes 250,000 tonnes of cheese per year, and if the supplies there begin Parag Milk Foods will expand capacity to 100 tonnes per day. Read more
