Indian Companies Urged To Leverage On Selangor International Expo 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Companies from India are urged to take advantage of the Selangor International Expo 2017 to connect with the lucrative ASEAN market and utilise the state as the gateway to the region. To be held from September 7-17 at the Setia City Convention Centre, Shah Alam, the expo will host exhibitors from sectors such as life sciences and biotechnology, as well as the halal market segment. Invest Selangor Bhd Chief Executive Officer Azhari Idris said Selangor could take a leaf out of India’s advanced biotechnology sector towards the effort to become the biotech hub of the ASEAN region. In a statement Monday, he said the expo would be the ideal platform to fuel business expansions, by connecting trade exhibitors with a broad range of businesses across the ASEAN region and beyond. "Their participation will open up more opportunities in enhancing economic cooperation and development in the sector," he added. India's biotechnology industry comprises bio-pharmaceuticals, bio-services, bio-agriculture, bio-industry and bioinformatics. The industry is expected to grow at an average of around 30 per cent annually and reach US$ 100 billion (US$1=RM4.44) by 2025. -- BERNAMA
