Indian-Iranian-Korean consortium to build energy zone in Iran

Baku, Azerbaijan, September 1 By Khalid Kazimov –- Trend: An Indian, Iranian-Korean consortium named Enterprise is holding talks with Iranian official to build a solar energy zone in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan. Ten members of the consortium met Khuzestan Governor General Abdolhossein Moqtadaei and other related officials to discuss their plans, IRNA news agency reported. Enterprise delegation leader Sharma in meeting with the Khuzestan governor general said the project will not only provide power but also create a large number of job opportunities. Explaining the plan, he said the Iranian side of the contract would need to provide 30 percent of the investment needed to accomplish the project while the rest will be put in by Enterprise. He also said Enterprize is able to build three kilometers of road per week with guaranteed quality and endurance. The Korean leader of the group for his part said 1.6 thousand MW of electricity is needed in building the energy zone. He added 10 hectares of land is also needed. Iran used 1,271 billion cubic feet of gas, as well as 28 billion liters of gas oil and fuel oil for power generation last Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, 2014. While the average international share of renewable energies in the energy basket is over 10 percent, the number is less than 0.01 percent for Iran.
