Indonesia Allocates Rp200 Tln To Develop Infrastructure In 2013

Jakarta, Jan 31 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has allocated Rp200 trillion to develop infrastructure this year, said a deputy minister. "In the State Budget 2013, we have allocated funds amounting to Rp200 trillion to develop infrastructure," said Deputy Finance Minister Mahendra Siregar on Thursday. He is confident that in 2014, Rp250 trillion-Rp300 trillion will be required to develop infrastructure. Infrastructure development is important for the nations economic growth, he stated. "We cannot have a seven percent economic growth if infrastructure development is ignored," he added. The Chief of the Financial Institutions and Capital Market Supervisory Agency, Nurhaida, said based on the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesias Economic Development (MP3EI), Indonesia needs Rp4,000 trillion for the country`s economic development from 2011 to 2015, and Rp1,786 trillion for infrastructure development. The government cannot rely on state budget alone to finance infrastructure projects. It needs the assistance of the private sector too, she stated. "We definitely require the assistance of the private sector to develop infrastructure in the country. The capital market is the right place to collect funds for infrastructure development," she added. We hope more investors will purchase shares in the infrastructure sector, she said.
