Indonesia is to broaden economic cooperation with Iran

Tehran, Dec 14, IRNA – Indonesian head of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said on Wednesday that Indonesia is willing to broaden economic cooperation with Iran. Speaking to IRNA, he said that Iran and Indonesia agreed to broaden such cooperation at the 12th Iran-Indonesian Joint Economic Commission. Based on the agreement, Iran and Indonesia is willing to broaden cooperation in commerce, industry, investment opportunities, infrastructure projects, energy, banking, finance, information technology, tourism, research and technology know-how and environment, he said. The main challenge is how to implement the projects, he said. Iran and Indonesia have been very good economic partners in the past and trade exceeded dlrs 273 million in 2015 registering 48 percent growth compared to the preceding period. We believe that exploring economic potentials in both sides can help increase volume of trade mainly after removal of economic sanctions against Iran, he said. He said that talks underway to normalize banking cooperation between the two countries. Indonesia welcomes joint venture investments in both countries, he said. Since Iran is very experienced in generation of electricity, the ground for mutual cooperation in the sector is well prepared, he said. The Islamic Republic of Iran also can develop partnership with Indonesia in joint venture investment in marine industries and tourism in Indonesia, he said. 1378/IRNA
