Indonesia Still Relies More On Natural Resources For Frowth

Yogyakarta, Feb. 4 (Antara) - Indonesia`s economic growth is relatively high but the growth was attributable more to its natural resources, Gajah Mada University Rector Pratikno said. So far creative economy has little contribution, Pratikno said at a seminar on "Promoting Growth of Young Indonesian Businessmen" here on Monday. "We must not be satisfied only as consumers. We must grow as a producer," the rector of the state university said. He said Indonesia should not remain as a big market for foreign manufactured goods, but "we must grow to become a big producer with contribution to the world`s economy." He said orientation of the Indonesian people is more to seeking jobs with little interest in seeking to create jobs as entrepreneurs. "In the United States, the number of entrepreneurs is 10 percent of the labor force , in Singapore four percent and in Malaysia three percent as against only less than two percent in Indonesia," he said. President Director of IBM Indonesia, Suryo Suwignjo said IBM will help government institutions in the regions to improve skills in technology, management , research and marketing.
