Indonesia Stock Exchange Closed On July 9

Jakarta, July 8 (Antara) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) will remain closed on July 9 in view of presidential election, press statement from BEI`s CEO Ito Warsito said here on Tuesday. Warsito explained that the decision to close the BEI was based on the General Election Commission (KPU)`s Regulation Number 19, which stated that the day of election will be a national holiday. Indonesia is to hold presidential election on July 9, 2014. The presidential election is contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo. According to the KPU, a total of 186,722,030 voters have been registered, with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
