Indonesia's Economy To Be Better In 2014

Jakarta, May 15 (Antara) - Deputy Finance Minister Anny Ratnawati predicts Indonesia`s economy would be better next year despite general elections in the year. "The prospects are better than this year despite the general elections because we have been mature enough to deal with general elections," she said here on Wednesday. She said the general elections would cost a lot and therefore could accelerate growth. In view of that, she is optimistic the country`s economy could grow above 6.2 percent. "Compared to India and China we are projected to be the most capable of achieving the prediction," she said. Anny said the world`s economic growth in 2014 is also projected to be better rising to 4 percent from 3.3. percent projected this year. Emerging markets including ASEAN-5, India and China are predicted to remain to be the world`s economic driver. "Emerging markets including Indonesia would be the drivers of growth. Indonesia is thought to be able to drive world`s economic growth it means our market is big," she said. So, she said, this must be taken as an opportunity by business players in the country by exploiting the market potentials but not by flooding it with imported products.
