International Cricket Can Help Open Up Markets For Malaysian Airline COs

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- International cricket can help open up new markets for Malaysian airline companies, according to the Malaysian Cricket Association. "This is especially so by creating a brand presence in key markets of the sport with a combined population of 1.5 billion. "In terms of tourism, it is a huge opportunity as airlines are at the cutting edge of this development," the association's president, Mahinda Vallipuram said in a statement Tuesday. The statement was issued following Malindo Air's recent confirmation of its involvement in the Nepal Earthquake Fund Raising Match and the "Bat for Nepal" campaign. The sponsorship agreement was reached during a recent working visit to Kuala Lumpur by the Chief Executive Officer of the Cricket Association of Nepal, Bhawana Ghimire. Nepal's national team will be flown in by Malindo Air for the match, to be held at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur, next month. "Malindo Air is an important industry player and we are proud to have them on board as the official airline for the fund raiser. "This is not only a sponsorship but an important contribution at a time when it is most needed for the people of Nepal," Mahinda said. The Nepalese team will take on a World XI comprising some of the great names of the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Kinrara Oval and all proceeds from the sale will be channelled to Nepal's Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. Malindo Air operates 14 weekly flights between Kathmandu and Kuala Lumpur. For more information, visit www.cricketmalaysia.com. --BERNAMA
