Int'l tourists at Doi Inthanon in Thai North hit new high in fiscal 2016

BANGKOK, October 3 (TNA) - The Doi Inthanon National Park in resort Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North reports that the number of international tourists at the Doi Inthanon National Park exceeded 800,000 in the fiscal 2016 year, nearly double from the 2015 fiscal year, earning the national park up to nearly 70 million baht, its highest record so far. Pornthep Charoensuebbsakul, Head of the Doi Inthanon National Park, told journalists on Monday that the number of international visitors to his park reached as high as 811,653 in the fiscal 2016 year, which ended on September 30, 2016, being almost double from 487,571 in the 2015 fiscal year and hitting a new high. Pornthep said his park, thus, earned about 69.09 million baht from the public visits in the 2016 fiscal year, also the highest level so far. Pornthep projected that the Doi Inthanon National Park should welcome up to one million international tourists in the present 2017 fiscal year, which starts on October 1, 2016, as its overall management and facilities have been upgraded with support and cooperation from local communities in terms of the protection of natural eco-logical systems and environment in its neighbourhood.
