Investors Interested In Deep Tunnel Project

Jakarta, March 13 (Antara) - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo or Jokowi, said a number of investors are keen to join in the construction of multi-purpose tunnel or tunnel deep project. "There are some investors who want to engage in a deep tunnel construction projects, including investors from Germany and China, then there are still others," said the governor at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday. In fact investor from Germany has given their presentation to the Jakarta Provincial Government according to Jokowi. In the presentation, the German investor would also bring a number of qualified personnel. "They (investors German) have been doing their presentation here, they even want to bring qualified personnel directly from Germany, the number one driller in the world," said Jokowi. Jokowi assess that the presentation delivered by German investors are pretty good. Jokowi is optimistic that the construction of a deep tunnel project is able to attract more investors. "After Germany, I believe this project (construction of deep tunnel) will surely attract more investors, both local and foreign," said Jokowi. The 22-kilometers deep tunnel will be built under the road network which stretches from Jalan MT Haryono in South Jakarta to Pluit, North Jakarta. The tunnel would have 16 meters of diameter and will be built in a depth of 40 to 60 meters underground. Later, the deep tunnel also has a variety of functions, such as a giant drainage during floods and as a means of transportation as roads will be built in there that enabling vehicle to pass in the tunnel. The required cost to build the giant tunnel is estimated at Rp16 trillion.
