Iran Artists Attend China’s Cultural Expo

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA -- The seventh international creativity, handicrafts, and cultural expo which opened in Beijing on Thursday was welcomed by the Chinese citizens. Iranian artists are actively taking part in the international section of the five-day Chinese cultural expo. Iran is taking part in six handicrafts branches such as hand-woven carpets and rugs, porcelain, ceramic, engraving on precious metals, and leather industry. Aras Free Zone Organizations’ Tourism Manager Mehdi Abbasi told IRNA that the handicrafts wholesalers and representatives of the chambers of commerce of East Azarbaijan for the first time introduced the products of artists of Northwestern Iran. He described China’s Cultural Expo as a good opportunity for introducing Iran’s potentials, art and creativity. “In the past two days, the people welcomed Iran’s traditional and cultural products, particularly carpet and handicrafts,” Abbasi added. More than 50 representatives of international organizations and 15 countries are attending the exhibition. The main purpose behind holding the Chinese cultural expo is reinforcing international cultural exchanges and cooperation. On the sidelines of the Chinese cultural expo, meetings will be held on cooperation in different handicrafts, artistic creativity, and cultural industry. The main title of the Chinese cultural expo has been chosen ‘Technology and Culture, Movement and Advancement with Innovation’. The Chinese cultural expo was first held in 2006 and the value of the signed contracts during the holding of the expos has reached $41 billion. The organizers of the expo are China’s Radio, Film and Television Administration, China’s local government, and China’s Publication and Press General Office./end
