Iran Calls For Judicial Co-op With Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, June 26, IRNA - Iranˈs Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammad Jalal Firouznia on Tuesday called for judicial cooperation between Iran and Malaysia to help resolve legal issues of Iranian nationals residing in Malaysia. He made the remarks in a meeting with Malaysian Chief Justice Datoˈ Lela Negara Tun Arifin bin Zakaria. Judicial cooperation will give more courage to Iranian nationals residing in Malaysia, said the Iranian ambassador. He advised the Malaysian judicial system to seriously follow up such cooperation. Iran has already presented a blueprint for extradition of prisoners to Malaysian judiciary, but, received no reply yet, he said. He called on the Malaysian judiciary chief to help resolve the problems of Iranian nationals under the arrest in Malaysia. There are some Iranian nationals who are still in jail without trial and those whose convictions have been removed were rearrested by Malaysian police which is not acceptable, he said. The Malaysian judiciary chief for his part welcomed judicial cooperation between the two countries and promised to resolve the issues./end
