Iran, China stress boost of ties

TEHRAN, Apr. 15 (MNA) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council met with several foreign officials on the sidelines of SCO security meeting in Moscow.. On the sidelines of the 10th meeting of the secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Security Council, Ali Shamkhani held a meeting with Guo Shengkun on Tuesday. The two sides discussed different issues of political, security and economic fields. Shamkhani, appreciating China’s constructive role in regional and international issues, urged speeding up in implementation of Iran-China security agreements. Chinese official for his part highlighted Beijing's positive will for strengthening mutual ties and that “bilateral visits and consultations have a decisive role in accelerating the implementation of agreements.” In another event, Shamkhani held a meeting with his Tajik counterpart. Noting Iran’s influential place in the region, particularly in regard to the issue of fight against terrorism and extremism, Tajik official declared Tajikistan's readiness to reinforce cooperation with Tehran in all aspects. Further, in a meeting with Afghanistan National Security Advisor, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the sides discussed the issues of fighting terrorism, fighting organized production and spread of drugs, and cooperation in political, economic and security areas. Iran's seretary of SNSC declared Tehran’s readiness to cooperate fully with all members of Shanghi Cooperation Organization on issues of terrorism, drug production and trafficking, and organized crimes.
