Iran to diversify currencies in trade

TEHRAN, April 17 (MNA) - The deputy industry, mines and trade minister welcomes a diversification of the country’s currency in trade through the central bank. Hamid Safdel said, “The Central bank has given suggestions at times regarding the use or non-use of certain currencies for trade.” Since the central bank sets the policy for currency exchanges, other foreign currencies could replace dollar and euro in trade, Safdel stated. The deputy minister added the decision to eliminate one particular currency in trade is not definite, and in regard to new developments new plans will be made. Safdel said over the past two months Iran has used ruble and rupee in trade, adding Iran can meet its interests by using currencies of other regional countries.
