Iran Eyes German Investments In Agriculture Sector

Berlin, Jan 19, IRNA -- Iranian Agriculture Minister Sadeq Khalilian here Friday called for German investments in his country's agriculture sector. Addressing German and European-based Iranian investors at the Iranian Embassy in Berlin, Khalilian welcomed the presence of German food and agriculture companies in Iran. The minister pointed to Iran's 'very positive development' in the agriculture sphere, saying the government had earmarked 10 billion US dollars for investments in the agricultural sector. Khalilian made clear food exports for Iran were not on the western sanctions' list. He also stressed that Iran could serve as a transit country for German firms to expand their agricultural cooperation in the region. Khalilian is currently in Berlin to attend the the Summit Conference of the World's Agriculture Ministers./end
