Iran To Facilitate Exports To Iraq

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA - One of the main challenges faced by Iranian traders in exporting goods to Iraq is lack of unified policies between border customs offices, said the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran. Speaking at a meeting of the experts committee of Non-oil Export Development Supreme Council, Valiollah Afkhami-Rad said Iran-Iraq Economic Development Committee has proposed that the responsibility for coordination between customs offices be delegated to the governorate-general offices. He stressed that the government is required to establish the needed infrastructures to expand trade with Iraq. Afkhami-Rad said it was quite necessary for the border executive bodies and customs offices to foster cooperation with the governorate-general offices. Referring to President Hassan Rouhani’s remarks on the National Industry & Mines Day, he said, “The government is determined to pave the way for economic growth, boosting non-oil exports and creating more value-added. To achieve this, Rouhani’s administration intends to remove exports restrictions and facilitate exports to Iraq./end
