Iran Imports 95m liters Of Euro-4 Petrol

Tehran, Aug 2, IRNA - Iran has imported 95m liters of euro-4 gasoline in less than a month, said a deputy head of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC). Shahrokh Khosravani said the euro-4 gasoline imports are in line with the government’s order to petrochemical plants to stop producing gasoline which is reported to have been carcinogenic, SHANA reported on Saturday. Iran started importing euro-4 gasoline less than a month ago, the official said. Ninety percent of cars manufactured in Iran conform with euro-4 standards, the secretary of Association of Iranian Car Manufacturers said recently. Ahmad Nematbakhsh said Iranian carmakers are currently supplying energy-efficient vehicles on the market. He said that the euro-4 standards incorporated into car parts reduce fuel consumption and help safeguard the environment. Nematbakhsh said Peugeot 206, Samand, L-90 and Tiba are among cars meeting euro-4 standards. Iran is working for the distribution of euro-4 grade gasoline across the country in order to stop petrochemical plant’s gasoline production./end
