Iran-India Reiterate Closer Economic Ties

Washington, April 15, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Economy Minister Behrouz Alishiri and Economic Affairs Secretary of the Indian Finance Minister Arvind Mayaram in Washington on Monday clled for closer economic relations. Alishiri and Mayaram met on the sidelines of the spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group. “Iran is committed to expand relations with India in all fields including the economy without any limitation or restriction,” head of the Iran’s Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran said. Alishiri underlined that Iran and India private sectors have good potentials for economic cooperation. “Iran will do its best to facilitate the presence of Indian investors in Iranian projects,” he noted. Economic Affairs Secretary of the Indian Finance Minister for his part welcomed the development of ties between the two countries. “There are good grounds for cooperation between New Delhi and Tehran in all fields including energy, industrial development, mining and steel production,” Mayaram added. Meanwhile, the two officials agreed to support each other in the international bodies. Alishiri, left Tehran for Washington on last Tuesday to attend the spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group. Each year, the annual spring and autumn meetings are held in mid-April and mid-October in Washington respectively, and every three years a member county hosts the annual summit.
