Iran-Iraq To Sign Contract For Gas Exports

Tehran, July 21, IRNA – Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Oji, said on Saturday that a contract for export of gas to Iraq will be signed on Sunday. Oji told IRNA that under the contract, that signatories to which would be Iranˈs Oil Minister and Iraqi Energy Minister, al-Baghdad and al-Mansoureh power plants would be supplied with gas. He said export of 25 million cubic meters, that talks about which started since two and a half years ago, will start by next two months. He said that Iranian gas worth dlrs 10 million a day will be piped to Iraq. Iranian gas will cost between $3.5 billion and $3.7 billion a year. He added that 227 kilometers of the 47-inch pipeline would be laid on Iranian territory and 270 kms in Iraq./end
