Iran, Pakistan stress execution of bilateral agreements

Islamabad, Dec 8, IRNA - Iran's Finance Minister Ali Tayyebnia and Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a meeting on Monday stressed execution of bilateral agreements between the two neighboring countries. Pakistan is a reliable partner for Iran in all fields including the fields of economy and foreign policy, Tayyebnia added. He underlined Iran and Pakistan trade exchange stood at over 893 million dollars in 2013 but the two states should do their best to witness a 20 percent increase in the next five years ahead. Tayyebina also stressed implementation of the two states' agreements in all fields including the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and export of electricity. The two states' private sectors should try to remove the obstacles on the way of preferential treatment between them, he said. Pakistan's finance minister for his part welcomed expansion of all out ties with Iran. He stressed that Islamabad is committed to carry out the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. Iran's economic delegation led by Tayyebnia arrived here Monday morning to attend the 19th meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission. The meeting is to be held in the Pakistani capital on December 9-10. During his two-day stay, Tayyebnia is to hold separate meetings with Pakistan high ranking officials. The 19th meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission will focus on the natural gas pipeline project as well as exports of Iran's electricity to Pakistan in a near future. Tehran-Islamabad trade value is less than one billion dollar. Officials of the two neighboring countries are not satisfied with the figure noting that it does not suit good political relations between the two./end
