Iran, Qatar sign biggest-ever saffron trade deal

Tehran, IRNA – The largest-ever deal on the trade of saffron was signed between Iran and Qatar on Monday. The deal was signed during a meeting of Qatari Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari with Iran’s Ambassador to Doha Hamidreza Dehghani. The newly-signed deal is said to have an estimated initial value of $300 million which paves the way for exports of some 200 tons of Iranian saffron to Qatar. Under the terms of the deal, the first consignment of Iranian saffron is expected to be delivered to Qatar on October 1. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
