Iran repairs steam turbine rotor

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA - Iran has joined few countries able to repair and reconstruct seven-megawatt steam turbine’s rotors. The achievement has been made at Khorassan Petrochemical Company, a company official said, according to shana.ir. Mohammad Toudarbari said European companies had said that the defective rotor in one of turbines in this company could never be repaired. “Despite follow-ups by this company, European sides did not accept to cooperate with Iran under the pretext of the sanctions,” he said. Toudarbardi said only few companies in the US and Europe are capable of repairing such rotors. He said Khorassan Petchem Company spent 4 billion rials on repairing this rotor while it could have cost 70 billion rials. Toudarbari said the company's engineers finally managed to repair the rotor and conduct the necessary tests./end
