Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Ali Tayyeb Nia held a meeting with South African Minister for Performance and Evaluation in the Presidency, Collins Chabane in Kuwait City on Monday. Tayyeb Nia arrived in Kuwait City earlier in the day to take part in the third Arab-Afro summit, as the special representative of President Hassan Rouhani who is the current chairman of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). During the meeting, the Iranian minister said Iran is keen on enhancement of ties with South Africa in all areas. Tayyeb Nia expressed hope that progress in nuclear talks between Tehran and G5+1 and possible lifting of western sanctions on Iran will further pave the way for promotion of bilateral ties between Tehran and Pretoria. He reiterated that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, rather it wants to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes within the frameworks of International Atomic Energy Agency regulations. The South African minister, for his part, expressed pleasure with Iran’s support for the government and nation of his country. Referring to the problems facing South African companies and investors for economic activities in Iran, Chabane said these companies have fallen victims of West-led sanctions on Iran./end
