Iran signs customs MoUs with Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan

Tehran, July 15, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) signed memoranda of understanding with Azerbaijan Republic and Nakhchivan in a bid to promote and ease trade with them. Head of the IRICA Foroud Asgari showed up in Iran’s consulate general in Nakhchivan and discussed problems in border crossing points. During the visit, Asgari held separate meetings with his Azeri counterpart Safar Mahdiyev and Azeri Parliament Speaker Vasif Talibov. He signed agreements during separate meetings with the head of Nakhchivan Customs Administration and Azeri speaker. Removing problems concerning exchange of information and X-Ray data were among the major items of the agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic. Iranian official proposed exchange of TIR Carnet information and running training courses on seizing drugs for the Azerbaijani customs staffers, which was welcomed by the Azeri official. Meanwhile, Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration and the Nakhchivan parliament speaker agreed to exchange online electronic data, exchange of X-Ray data and organizing training courses to boost joint anti-drug campaign.
