TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (MNA) –Iran and Singapore have discussed extension of bilateral trade and economic ties on Tuesday. Iran’s head of Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture met with Chew Tai Soo, Singapore’s non-resident ambassador and discussed the promotion of bilateral relations with East Asian newly emerged economic and information power. ICCIMA public relation office informed Mehr News that Gholamhossein Shafei highlighted the development of Singapore as an example for developing countries worthy of emulation; “during past decades, geographical position lent Singapore enough weight and importance to be one of the most powerful countries of Southeast Asia." Shafei pointed to President Rouhani`s foreign policy which emphasized upon development and promotion of economic ties with other countries especially with friends. The head of ICCIAM assessed recent opening of the troika railway connecting Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan as a basis to boost trade by which tradesmen and producers would enjoy benefits of the opportunity to simply access CIS countries. He announced the forthcoming impending visit by Iranian delegation to Singapore in 2015. “Without any doubt, the ambassador plays a key role in facilitating the arrangements for promotion of economic relations between the two countries,” Shafei said. For his part Chew Tai Soo gave an account of his past visit of Isfahan along with a delegation from his fellow country in February 2014. “Some Singaporean companies with international reputation and experience in development and building international hotels and water treatment facilities are interested to work in Iran and they will travel to Tehran in January 2015,” Mr. Soo said. “Singapore Business Federation has sent an invitation to Iran and Isfahan Chamber of Commerce to promote trade ties between two counties and we hope to see an Iranian delegation in near future,” Soo added. Gholamhossein Shafei concluded his remarks with statistics of the number of tourists visiting Iran as their destination, which he asserted, was on a rise during last year. “Iran enjoys geographical attractions and ancient historical sites which can allure travelers from all over the world and this element positively contributes to the possibility of any project in tourism sector,” he closed his remarks.
