Iran, Turkey Hold Meeting On Customs

Isfahan, Oct 15, IRNA -- Iran and Turkey held on Sunday the third joint meeting of heads of their customs administrations in Isfahan. The meeting aims to sign an agreement on different trade issues. Deputy Minister of Trade and chairman of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration Abbas Me'marnejad said the two countries have taken effective steps to upgrade trade and economic cooperation. Turkish Deputy President Customs Administration Zia Alton Yaldiz said that the meeting is in line with the strategy to augment Iran-Turkey trade to 30 billion dollars. He said the two countries are doing their best to ease the non-stop truck transits at the border points. Yaldiz said the next joint meeting of customs administrations will be held in Turkey in May 2013. The Iranian and Turkish officials reviewed the ways to facilitate transit of goods at border points in the third meeting on customs. According to an agreement already signed, Iranian and Turkish chairmen of customs administrations would hold meeting every six-month and exchange views to address relevant issues. The first and second of such meetings have been held in Orumiyeh, Iran and Quniya in Turkey./end
