Iran, Turkey stress promotion of economic, customs ties

Tehran, Feb 4, IRNA - Turkish Minister of Customs and Trade Nurettin Canikli stressed expansion of economic and customs relations with Iran and evaluated bilateral relations as important. Canikli made the remark in a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia on Tuesday. The Iranian minister pointed to deep-rooted economic ties and cultural commonalities between the two countries and said, “Economic, trade and diplomatic cooperation between Iran and Turkey can play effective role in preventing extremism in region.” He said visits and exchange of views between officials of the two countries can prepare the required ground for progress of bilateral ties. On his part, the Turkish official said, “I consider Iran as my second home and I have announced this feeling among the Iranian and Turkish tradesmen and entrepreneurs that I can make no difference between Iranian and Turkish businessmen and in my point of view all of us belong to a single family.” Referring to the signing of the preferential trade agreement and removal of transportation of trucks between the two countries, he said this achievement is among outstanding gains that have resulted in facilitation and acceleration of trade and economic relations between the two countries. During the meeting the two ministers agreed to form a joint committee for examining customs cooperation and offering practical proposals for promotion of bilateral cooperation in this regard.
