Iran-Turkey Trade Transactions Value To Hit $30b

Ankara, Oct 6, IRNA – Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said that after removal of some obstacles impeding Iran-Turkey trade ties, the value of trade transactions between the two countries will exceed $30 billion. Rahimi, who is visiting Turkey at the invitation of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed his satisfaction with the volume of trade transactions between Tehran and Ankara. “In my meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan I will discuss removal of some obstacles and bureaucratic barriers obstructing trade and commercial ties between both countries,” he added. Pointing to the satisfactory ties between Iran and Turkey in different fields, Rahimi said that Iran and Turkey have differences of opinion in some political spheres, but they have consensus in the economic sector and Tehran-Ankara trade ties is improving at an expedited manner. He added that the prerequisite for expansion of ties in all area is preparing a suitable framework which has been discussed during his meeting with Erdogan. “We (Iran and Turkey) will try to increase the volume of trade ties up to above $30 billion,” Rahimi added. He referred to the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Tehran in March and his talks with Iranian officials in different areas such as political, security, economic, trade and cultural. “During Erdogan’s visit to Iran the two sides expressed hope that the value of trade transactions between Tehran and Ankara would reach $30 billion within a five year period. However, in view of the pace of trade transactions between the two countries, that objective will be materialized sooner than that deadline,” Iran’s first vice president added./end
